Mission
The DHHIG's National Training Conference’s mission is to increase awareness of, and provide training resources on, issues that face government employees who are either Deaf or Hard of Hearing and their hearing co-workers.
In February 1994, spurred by the Deaf and Hard of Hearing employees who work at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the agency hosted a first-of-a-kind, government-wide, National Training Conference for the deaf and hard of hearing government employees at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.
The Deaf and Hard of Hearing In Government (DHHIG), Inc., established in 1998, eventually became, and is now the permanent organization charged with organizing and hosting this OPM-sanctioned government employee training.

About Us
About DHHIG's National Training Conference - 2009
DHHIG's National Training Conference 2009 (NTC 2009), a 3-day conference, will focus on the employment, advancement, retention, and culture of Government employees who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The conference will also focus on ways to foster communication among hearing and Deaf individuals, regardless of communication modes such as sign language or spoken English.
The conference will provide an opportunity for the attendees to hear from nationally recognized speakers and trainers who will address current realities and future trends, and the assessment and use of leadership. DHHIG's goal is to increase the participants' awareness of issues that challenge government employees who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, and the hearing people who work with them.
