A welcome letter from Sponsorship Coordinator

Sponsorship

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Government is pleased to announce the National Training Conference (NTC) featuring the promising theme of “Climbing Ladders of Opportunity.” The conference is scheduled to be hosted at the Gallaudet University Kellogg Conference Hotel Washington, D.C., May 5-7, 2009. NTC continues its commitment to building bridges of diversity between all levels of government and business employees.

NTC was initially hosted by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in February 1994. The original conference was only open to Federal Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing and interested Federal employees. Over the years, the program has expanded to include Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing employees on the state and local government levels, as well as private sector businesses.

The purpose of this conference is to and to promote professional and personal growth among Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing government employees as well as broaden networking for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing workers, and to educate hearing co-workers on how to better interact with their deaf colleagues on a professional level. The conference will also focus on employment, advancement, retention, and culture of government employees who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, as well as hearing. It provides an opportunity for the attendees to hear from nationally recognized speakers and trainers addressing current realities and future trends, and the assessment and use of leadership.

Since the conference’s inception, professional development has been enhanced, particularly on the part of the employer. Employers who attend the conference have met prospective employees, resulting in later filling positions. Multiple opportunities for agencies and companies to network with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing workers and even with each other is now a reality.

NTC is successful, due in large part, to the generosity of its sponsors. Sponsors from all levels of the government (Federal, State, and Local) and businesses have provided financial support in granting direct funds or “in-kind” contributionss, such as bestowing interpreters to help facilitate communication among all conference participants, providing courteous amenities such as an internet/phone cafe, or allowing workers to attend this unique conference.

We would like to see this wonderful tradition of support not only continue, but increase, so that we can provide a high-quality level of services for all of our conference participants. This conference not only benefits the participants, but the employers as well, by enabling all participants to learn more about their abilities, to expand on their knowledge and experience and then to bring the skills that they learn back to their workplace.

We welcome you to browse through the sponsorship section on our NTC website and review options that may suit your organization's mission. The section provides information with different ad placement options, as well as other ways you can help make this event as successful as possible. We invite you to take part in making NTC a valuable experience for your employees and many others across all levels of government and business. Your support is very important to us and we ask that you contact us no later than March 15, 2009.
